Nearly 25,000 Lost Electricity in South-East Queensland and Victorian Regions Following Powerful Storms
Nearly 25,000 households in Queensland's southeast woke up without power on Monday's dawn after severe thunderstorms swept through the area, producing wind gusts topping over 100 km/h.
Massive Hailstones and Extensive Destruction
Residents observed large ice chunks reaching sizes of 7 centimeters in some areas. The Bureau of Meteorology confirmed that multiple regions across Queensland had been impacted by large hailstones.

Emergency crews were working to restore power throughout the affected regions, with approximately seventy teams working to manage the numerous electricity disruptions.
Victoria's Storm Challenges
At the same time, nearly one thousand energy customers in the southern state also faced electricity disruptions after the capital city saw its heaviest rainfall in 18 months.
Emergency response teams received over five hundred calls for help across the state, mainly for property damage but also for fallen timber and flooding.

During the peak on Sunday, more than 28,000 electricity consumers in the state were without power.
Climate Outlook
Damp conditions were expected to linger along much of eastern Queensland this week as a weather pattern continued to pull in damp air against the shoreline.
Tomorrow was expected to become the heaviest precipitation period, with continued severe weather risk predicted across multiple regions of both areas.
Medical Alert
Health officials warned that there was an greater possibility of weather-related respiratory issues across the northern rural areas, especially given the current weather patterns.
This alert comes after previous incidents where similar conditions led to significant health impacts in the region.
